About the Team

As part of Atlassian’s Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team, you will collaborate closely with:

• Enterprise customers

• Product & Engineering teams

• Design and AI research teams

You’ll help customers unlock real business value using Generative AI, LLMs, and intelligent automation, shaping the future of AI-powered teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will:

• Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML-powered solutions using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, and LlamaIndex

• Build and integrate scalable backend systems using Python, JavaScript, APIs, and microservices

• Analyze complex datasets to drive data-informed product decisions

• Implement AI-driven workflow automation to improve operational efficiency

• Lead end-to-end production deployment of AI solutions with monitoring and optimization

• Ensure AI risk management, data privacy, and GDPR compliance

• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of innovation

• Communicate complex AI concepts clearly to technical & non-technical stakeholders

• Align AI solutions with business objectives and measurable outcomes

Required Qualifications

You should have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science

• 5+ years of backend software development experience

• 3+ years of hands-on experience delivering AI/ML solutions in production

• Strong expertise in Generative AI, LLMs, and agent-based systems

• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, APIs, and enterprise integrations

• Experience solving ambiguous, real-world problems

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

• Knowledge of AI compliance, data privacy, and regulatory frameworks (GDPR)

Preferred (Nice to Have) Skills

• Experience with Atlassian Intelligence or Rovo AI

• Exposure to regulated industries (finance, healthcare, etc.)

• Experience scaling AI solutions in large production environments

• Prior experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
