The Legal Technology Team builds and supports mission-critical applications that enable Atlassian’s legal, compliance, and governance operations.
We collaborate closely with Legal, IT, and Security teams to create scalable, secure, and automated solutions that improve legal workflows, ensure compliance, and protect data integrity.
You’ll be part of a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, and legal professionals who value curiosity, collaboration, and solving complex problems with elegant technical solutions.
As an Application Engineer, you will:
Design, build, and maintain integrations between Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) and legal/compliance systems
Develop custom applications and automation tools to streamline legal workflows
Translate legal and business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions
Implement integration patterns including REST APIs, webhooks, ETL, middleware, and event-driven architectures
Enable self-service operations through automation and system integrations
Troubleshoot and resolve application performance, data integrity, and interoperability issues
Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmaps for legal tech initiatives
Document solutions, best practices, and integration standards for internal teams
1+ years of experience as an Application Engineer, Integration Engineer, or similar role
Hands-on experience with integration tools (Zapier, Workato, Boomi, or custom middleware)
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, JSON, XML
Excellent problem-solving and independent working ability
Strong communication skills to work with technical & non-technical stakeholders
Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
Familiarity with legal & compliance platforms (CLM, eDiscovery, GRC – Ironclad, OneTrust, Onna)
Cloud experience: AWS, Azure, or GCP
Knowledge of security & privacy best practices
Experience with workflow automation, CI/CD, and DevOps
Atlassian offers competitive, equitable, and transparent compensation:
Zone A: $146,700 – $191,525
Zone B: $132,300 – $172,725
Zone C: $122,400 – $159,800
